Hello, hello, hello! Monday: We were able to take a 2½ hour nap! SCORE!!! And it's temple day -yay! One thing I've noticed is that I feel no judgement in the temple. I feel love toward God and love towards others. Tuesday: Ok I woke up this morning with a letter right by my bed. SIster Liu is really the best! She just wrote the cutest letter telling me that she loves me and is so happy that we are companions. She has the cutest handwriting too. It is literally perfect. Yeah, no one compares. So there's the cutest little Asian in my zone. Tonight he and his companions were going to teach an investigator. They were late and were deciding on whether or not they should say a prayer before hand. He just said, "Let's sing a song! ... SILENT NIGHT HOLY NIGHT!" and he starts skipping down the hallway. I was laughing so hard! And whenever we see each other we wave with BOTH HANDS! It's kinda hard when you are holding a dinner tray though ... |
We had a devotional tonight. Elder Ballard came to speak with us. My favorite part of what he said was, "If you are having any negative thoughts, take your mind to Liberty Jail where Joseph Smith and his companions were for 4 1/2 months for the cause of Jesus Christ. Write a letter to Joseph and try to cheer him up. Our problems are small compared to his." I had never really thought of it like that before.
Wednesday: NEW MISSIONARIES!! I saw Melissa - which was so fun! We got a picture together ... but not on my camera. Bummer! I realized that I need to take more pictures ... I will this week.
Ok - I am a hero to Sister Liu and Effie. I was in the bathroom with my cheetah footie pajamas. A sister told me that she loved my PJ's. She had a facial mask on and I had toothpaste running down my mouth. Start off to a great friendship. Well, she asked me where I was going. And then asked if I knew Michelle Liu. “Ummmm yeah - she is my companion”. SHE FLIPPED OUT! “WHERE IS SHE?!?!” *splashing face with water* ... “My room” I responded. I showed her to my room and well...that was a fun reunion. They were typical screaming, jumping and crying girls. The whole hall came over to see what the "problem" was... no problem. Just drama queens!
I got 2 packages today - which made me feel really special! Thanks mom for the RIGHT jacket, journal and I loved the HUGE apple :) I really might just not eat it because it's so big and looks really cool on top of my cashews. The pictures are awesome too! THANKS :))) Whenever I see Beau+ Sarah=relationship goals.
Thanks to the Packs! You’ve done it yet again! Nuts, chocolate and MORE STICKERS!!! It's really good to know that people are thinking and praying for me! Thank you!
I also got new roommates. One is from Hong Kong and the other is originally from Taiwan but she has lived in California. They are total sweethearts! The sister from Hong Kong (Sister Long) is having a hard time coping with the new environment. But she is really starting to warm up. Sister Wei is REALLY SHORT and a total sweetheart. She is HEN CONGMING!
Thursday: We had an activity where we would write down a struggle on a piece of paper. Share it with our companion and then she would have to create a 20-minute lesson on how to help her companion with that struggle using the Plan of Salvation. Sister Liu had this struggle and she told me that my lesson helped her. But then at like 10 pm we had a HUGE talk about it. It's cool because I kind of went through the same thing. Not really, but ... kind of. It was good to just open up. She gave me a whole new perspective on things. I am SO GRATEFUL for the Plan of Salvation. It really is comforting to know that Heavenly Father has a plan for EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US.
Friday: It's Sister Wei's birthday! She turned 20! Mom - I hope it's ok that I gave her the chocolate pretzels you sent me!

Today we hid Elder Chen's bananas. He totally freaked out and it was hilarious! He realized that they were gone during class so he was crawling all over the place trying to find them. The teacher thought he was really weird. He IS really weird! He is the class clown. His reactions to things are so funny! His facial expressions and hand motions are just sooo funny! But he is a very insightful person. He always shares the deepest thoughts during District meetings and such. He also lets everyone read his journal, which I think is really weird. But the thing is, his journal is just a bunch of random stuff!!! Like, "Today I made a tower out of bowls and spoons. But I missed a spoon. And the tower fell over." "SUN LAO SHI IS FULL OF LIES! SHE IS WANG JIE MEI!" Idk – it’s just stupid stuff. But then apparently he has a diary that he keeps all of this deep feelings in. |
Saturday: Today we visited the TRC center. AHHH BEST LESSON EVER!! We teach volunteers. But they aren’t pretending to play any role. They are just themselves. So we are trying to help bring REAL people unto Christ. We just get to know them and share a quick message. The guy from our first lesson went to Australia on his mission speaking mandarin. He was really cool. You know when they say that when the time comes the Lord will open your mouth. That is what exactly happened!! It was so cool! And things were brought to my remembrance. Remember how I read the 4 Gospels before Christmas? Well I read something in there that I was able to share and help this man. Then he shared a couple more scriptures just like that one but they are in the BOM. He was very helpful.
Our second lesson was ok. Not as good. Ok … now I know what the problem was. We are girls and He was an RM, very attractive, talented, knew how to speak Chinese. Ya ... you get the point?! It's hard to try and teach someone when you look at them and think, "Uuummm, date?" Just Kidding - it was fine!
The main thing that I learned is that I am not being sent out into the world to fix people's problems. Problems are going to arise again and again - whether it’s the same problem or not. We are here to offer joy and love …to offer the peace of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And I feel like I need to stop thinking like I am being sent to solve problems - instead of comfort hearts.
Sunday: GUESS WHAT! I AM A SISTER TRAINING LEADER!!! Full of new responsibilities - and less sleep and less time. But that's ok. I am really excited for this calling :))) We got knew Zone leaders too. One of them is Parker Stephens. So we spend a lot of time together going to meetings and such. He's a cool kid. And his companion is SO funny! I could see him as a mad evil villain genius person. It's just his face.... And apparently - I look like I could be on Animal Planet.....
We had THE BEST DEVOTIONAL TOINIGHT! Elder Stephen B Allen came to speak to us. He was SO funny and really brought in the spirit. He talked about Satan pressing your buttons. Leading you on with doubt. Stuff like that. He was really good at putting things into perspective and cheering us on.
I got to see Meet the Mormons for the first time. It was really good!! I loved it!
Hope y'all are doing well! I am loving it here in the MTC! It is actually different than I thought it would be but it's REALLY GOOD!!!!
Oh and mom, yes I can run. I am sick right now though so I don't - because running inside really hurts my lungs. But I do abs and legs and arm stuff most of the time...
