I picked up me new companion. She is such a doll and I love her so much.
We met with Liu Pin Shao, our investigator. The elders came too to help out. It was such a great lesson.
Tonight we rode the wrong bus home. Oops. We left our bikes at a different bus stop and we thought that bus would take us to where our bikes were. Nope! So we got off at the last stop and walked home. We'll get the bikes tomorrow. Sorry, not gonna stay up till midnight getting our bikes.
What a great first night as senior! Woot!
DTM was the best as usual. I cried. That is normal. And then I said the closing prayer. Still crying. Go to meet an LA (less active member). Still crying. Really, once the tears come they don't stop! The elders are awesome! They are willing to help us out with anything.
We invited the LA to bear her testimony to someone this week. She called us later tonight and said that she did it. She shared her testimony to a friend who is in England. And her friend said that she would go to church in England! yay:) The gospel is being spread. And what made me so happy was the LA's excitement to share the gospel. "I did it! I succeeded! She's coming to church!" She was soooo happy:) Totally made my day.
We found that wind is not a good friend to paper ... or skirts.
English class was awesome! It was actually one of the best classes that I have had with kids! We played the Hokey Pokey like 1/2 the time. The kids loved it and the parents got into it too! We also set up to meet with a girl from the advanced class. She had questions about life's purpose and everything - so we will be meeting with her tomorrow. So - there was a bike problem today so we didn't have bikes to get home. We started walking and when we were about 1/2 way home the Elders came. They parked their bikes in front of us and ran off. Ok...that wasn't necessary. Thanks though! They really are the best!
We had a great but confusing lesson with Vita (the girl we added from English class last night). She wanted the lesson in English. You know, like terms that we use in the church that just flow when we talk? Well, even though we were speaking very slowly the lesson kind of started messy because of these bigger terms. But we fixed it. She had lots of questions. It was great! And then we went to dinner with her. I tried a soup with a bunch of random stuff in it. There was pork, squid and pig intestines. I do not recommend pig intestines. They were nasty. Gonna meet with her again next week.
We ate dinner at Chen Jie Mei's house. She is our grandma investigator. She made dumplings, salad (like a potato salad) and clams. It was all very good! We taught a great lesson. She absorbed everything. She understands why we need Jesus and she said that she believes that Jesus is her Savior. She also opened up to us. She told us that she wants to research all churches. And in order to be baptized she wants to know everything. Understand everything. And know that this is the church that she wants to join. It is a big decision … but you don't need to know everything.
Honestly today didn't start out too great but as I was reflecting on today's activities I thought, "we learned a lot." Like really, things didn't work out the way that we had hoped but we learned about how we can improve.
We tried a new place for lunch. There were lots of people so we thought it would been good. And it was! Octopus soup with noodles. There was a dad and a son that sat next to us at our table. The son was super shy but the dad held great conversation. He wasn’t really interested in our message but he paid for our meal! How nice is that?! Later tonight another guy bought us coke and said, "Welcome to Taiwan" in English. It was so cool! I love the people here!
We got lost today. We were looking for formers. I recognized the road that they lived on but I didn't realize that this road goes on FOREVER! We rode uphill, against the wind for probably 30 minutes. And then we couldn't even find the house. We turned around and took a different route back. We were in the middle of nowhere and we ran into the Elders. They told us that we weren't even in our own area. Well, that would've been good to know. We took out the maps and they showed us where we were. Man, what a blessing. Seriously a total miracle that we ran into each other … literally in the middle of nowhere.
Another miracle today: we have a member, Zhou Jie Mei. She is from Gao Xiong but up here for work. She came to the church last week looking for answers on what to do about work. We suggested that she prayed. "I like the answer" she says that a lot. And then she called us today and said that she prayed and then her boss called her and gave her a new position at work. "I prayed! I prayed! I prayed!" man, she is sooo cute.
An investigator that Sister Carlson and I met like 3 weeks ago came to church today!! She rode the bus and walked. It took her an hour to get the church! And she is planning on coming back next week. How awesome is that?? A member met with her today and wrote her address down to see who lives by her so that someone can come and pick her up for church. Awww. We have the best members!
Love you all and hope you have a great week!
