Hello Dear Family and Friends! This week was awesome! Already told y’all about the temple and such so I will go on from Thursday :)) Thursday: We had a lesson with Grace...well, She needs help. She has really bad depression and is not happy. She hopes that the Gospel can help her change the way that she thinks. But she cannot just listen and learn the Gospel and all will be well. She does have a doctor but she doesn’t like to go see him. |
She also told us that she is not willing to believe because she cant believe in a God who would let this happen and give her such a horrible family (just fyi - her relationship with family is not good.) But I think that she has a small amount of faith and hope. Why else would she keep on coming to church?
MIRACLE! SO yesterday we accidentally left our phone at the DaYa chapel. That is about 1/2 hour bus ride away. And when we came back to the chapel today for ZTM it was still there!! woah! Thank you Heavenly Father :)
Friday:
So it is my birthday today! For Lunch we went to Ji Pin Xuan house. She made delicious food but it was all very very salty. I felt my heart clogging while walking to the bus stop. She is a very solid LA. Whenever we talk to her she bears her testimony. And every time she shares a new experience usually about prayers being answered.

We ate dinner at an investigators house. Everything was fried food. But is was really good!! :) We shared with her the Word of Wisdom. She was very caught up on the why. But then we read how our bodies are like temples. And it just clicked for her. She said that she can not give up her coffee, tea and alcohol right now but man man lai. She is going to pray about it.
Sat:
We went out tracting and then Sister Nelson felt really sick. So we went into the MacDonalds to sit for a bit. It was actually a long time. Not doing anything made me very anxious. There was a crazy lady there that asked us if Jesus would give her money. Money is all anyone really cares about here in Taiwan I feel like. Well, it is just very important to them.
We had a great lesson with Liu Pin Shao. I have really liked starting the lessons by asking if they have any worries now lately or right now. The Gospel is something that is just a part of life. And can help us in EVERY aspect. I feel like the best way to do that is by taking what they are concerned about right now and apply it to the gospel. Liu Pin Shao is also super honest. She is excited to come to church this week. The Spirit was there and our Pei Ke was really sweet.
We rushed to the church to see Song Bei Bei get baptized. He is the funniest 72 year old man! The first thing that he said out of the water was "Not bad" in Taiwanese. I love attending baptisms. The Spirit is ALWAYS SO STRONG :)

We then visited a potential. She is worried about her daughter who is in her teens. Just like any other mother with a daughter going through the teenage years. She doesn’t know what to do when her daughter ignores her. Mom- how did you do it?
While visiting with her I realized that she did not have interest in accepting the gospel right now. Which is fine. But we were able to help her see how prayer can help her receive answers to these questions. No effort is ever wasted.

Sunday:
Grace came to church today but she had a mini panic attack during Gospel Principles class. We are still not entirely sure how to teach her.
We went to dinner with a member, Luo Jie Mei. She is the cutest old lady. She helps us Pei Ke with Chen Jin Zi (the grandma). She was sooooo happy that we came to visit her. She seems very lonely. She thought of some people that we could go visit together so that is what we did after dinner. We got to know her friends that live downstairs. And they seem like they will be coming to the Christmas party.
Activity in the church is not the ultimate goal. It is possible to be active in the church and less active in the gospel. Activity in the church is an outward indication of our Spiritual desire. Things of the gospel are less visible and difficult to measure but are of greater eternal importance. How much faith do we have? How repentant are we? How focused are we on our covenants? The purpose of church is to help us live the gospel.
We should not be committed to the church but to Jesus Christ and His gospel. I think this is so true. Attending church is such a blessing. To be guided by His prophet and supported by others – amazing!
Love you all! :) Until next week.
