Hello my dear family and friends! This week was just awesome! Crazy but awesome! :)) Monday: We went to Taizhong (my old home) and we saw lots of people at the Bu. We went to the toilet restaurant at Yi Zhong Jie. We got Bing (shaved ice) in a toilet. Yummy! We went tracting tonight and it was awesome! met some really cool people. One of the first houses we knocked on rejected us. It was a mom and her daughter. But they seemed interested in English class. They shut the door and we kept going. About 2 minutes later the little girl came out and asked if we could take a picture with her and her selfie camera. OF COURSE! We got talking to her and she is super cool. We continued tracting and then again, about 20 minutes later the same girl came out to find us and give us little orange juice bottles. Awwww so sweet. We got her number and set up a time to meet. She was just so nice. Totally made our night. |
Tuesday:
Today we went to DTM a little earlier than usual. Elder Nipper likes to put up Mormon messages to set the tone. Well, we got there and the elders were still out. So we set up the TV and started watching Mormon messages. And then ... 20 minutes past. The elders had not come yet. Umm … still in a lesson? So we texted them. And they responded that they had an emergency and were in the hospital. So one of their investigators got beat up by his friend :( So we didn't have DTM today. Praying that everything is ok.
We did have exchanges though! I got to be with Sister Olsen for a day. Sister Olsen is like the best STL ever! She “visa waited” in Arizona too! She left Arizona right when I got there. So she knows everyone! We spent a lot of time walking down memory lane. President and Sister Toone, companions, the wards and certain places. It was awesome.

Wednesday:
So MIRACLE! This girl, Tiffany, who we met with once called us and asked if we could meet. Ummm - ya!!!! We taught her the first lesson and now she is on date! Getting baptized at the end of October. She is really cool. She is really busy with school, work and such, but I know that if she takes the time to meet with us and read the Book of Mormon she will find what she is looking for.
We went somewhere I have never been before to go tracting. It is like in the middle of nowhere. Well to be honest, my whole area is like... in the middle of nowhere. We are like the Idaho of Taiwan. We tracted into a lady who had a TON of soul searching questions. And the Spirit totally guided our answers. We had great unity. And you know that the Spirit touched her heart and told her that this message was true. Miracles on exchanges!
For English class we learned about fruit. And we had all the kids draw their favorite fruits on a piece of paper. Crayons and paper work magic ... no joke. Those kids were quiet and focused. I think we are going to have a lot more crayons and paper activities. There is this girl in my English class who reminds me of Kami when she was little J
Thursday:
This morning an electric guy had to come and inspect our apartment. So the elders had to come and be with us (priesthood). Good thing they came too because we had no idea what the heck he was talking about. Our electric bill is through the roof (like higher than our rent) and it might be because the AC is broken or someone is stealing out power. We went to a far away place to find some LAs. We took the bus over there and then walked...a lot. There were lots of hills and no one was out on the street. So we spent the whole afternoon there. ...ya. It was hard. And then we had a lesson that we had to get to. So we took a different bus that we thought would be faster...well it kinda took us to a whole different area. It took us closer to the church than where our bikes were. So we decided to just walk to the church. We actually ran. Good thing we are cross country runners! #xcfl We were just like 10 minutes late for our next meeting. Totally killed it!

We had dinner at Chen Jie Mei's house. She has yet to read the Book of Mormon. She will come around. The food was great though! Fried chicken, fish, dumplings, tomato and egg, soup and salad ( more of egg salad).
Then we had to walk all the way back to our bikes...that were by the bus stop. Took forever. And then when we got there I found out that I lost my contact bag...which had the key to my bike lock. DANG IT! Sooooo we took turns carrying my bike and guiding her bike home. We weren't just going to leave the bike there at the stop. The Qing Shui elders came up behind us and thought we were crazy for thinking we could make it home before 9:30 carrying a bike. Don't doubt the sister power Elder Nipper! They called someone from their ward to come and pick us up and take us home. By this time it was really late and we were really tired. Man. what a day. It may not seem that crazy in an email but believe me...it was exciting! (Don’t worry I found a spare bike key).

Friday:
Lets start off with the quote of the day: The strength of our relationship is like the strength of my abs. Super strong but not yet a 6-pack." that was from SIster Carlson. She is so funny. I love weekly planning because we can talk about our investigators needs and we can come closer together as a companionship.
We had a great lesson tonight with Christine. She is so cool! We taught her the Plan of Salvation. She listened and asked questions. She watches a lot of really weird stuff so she has a lot of weird questions. But when we tell her Jesus's Doctrine she understands. She would say, " Oh now I understand. The TV was wrong." She is very open when she understands. The hard part is she likes to use big Chinese words that we don't understand. The gift of discernment is real and so is the gift of tongues. In our past lessons she would not read the scriptures in front of us. But tonight she did! And she told us things that were very personal to her. It is really cool to see someone trust you so much.
Saturday:
We spent a lot of time up at this university town area. Total miracle! So we were at a cross walk and while waiting for the little running dude to turn green we were talking to a college girl. While talking to her another girl came up to us and asked if we were church missionaries. Well...yes. She totally self- contacted. Sweet! She is almost graduated from nursing. She has a lot of Christian friends and really open to learning more. Proves to show how ready people are for the gospel.
We decided to have hot pot today. I havent had hot pot in forever. If I had to choose my favorite meal here in Taiwan I would probably have to be hot pot. And the diner had endless ice cream and drinks!
We went back to the bus stop and as we were unlocking our bikes a lady walked past us. I said hello and asked how her day was. She stopped to talk to us. She was super nice and willing to listen. She had a lot of questions regarding baptism.
Tonight we went to a 7-11 before English procelyting to look at the map. While we were in there we met a really cute family. David and Polly with their son, Ray. We talked to them for a little bit and they were really interested in the Englishclass. And then they asked how our Chinese is so good. It really is God's miracle that we can communicate with these people. When we told them about God, Davis was like, " 不可能" which pretty much means "that is impossible." Really, God is the secret to it all.

Sunday:
Today I felt like I needed to fast. Not sure why but at the end God revealed to me answers that I had been praying for and strength that I was in need of. Fasting is a true gift.
Today we went to a BBQ at the Elder's investigators house. Her name is Carrie and she is really cool. The BBQ was SOOOO GOOD! So people have been out BBQing all weekend because it is Mid Autumn Festival today and tomorrow! There is lot of meat, smoke and fireworks! We are out most nights and we get front row seats to a lot of fireworks. :)

I read in the Liahona a quote from President Thomas S. Monson "Charity is having patience with someone who has let us down. It is resisting the impulse to become offended easily. It is accepting weaknesses and shortcomings. It is accepting people as they truly are. It is looking beyond physical appearances to attributes that will not dim through time. It is resisting the impulse to categorize others." This gave me a little new insight to what Charity is. And how much effort we have to give in order to receive charity. I know that if we love others the way God loves us we will be filled with this charity of Christ. This charity will help us be happy no matter what circumstance we are in.
Love to you all!
